Andrea Anania joined the Board Office staff in March 2000.   Previously, she was with the Iowa Department of Management. Prior to that, she served as Office Manager for the Iowa Seed Capital Corporation (1991-1998), a private, state-funded venture capital fund, and as Office Manager for the Iowa Savings and Loan Division (1987-1991), the regulator of state-chartered savings and loan associations. Ms. Anania received her B.A. degree in Business Administration from Grand View College in Des Moines, Iowa.

Jean Friedrich joined the Board of Regents staff in October 1991. She was previously employed by General Electric Capital Corporation as a Contract Specialist and at Security Pacific Business Finance as a Documentation Analyst in San Diego, CA. Prior to that time she had worked several years for the City of Ames. Ms. Friedrich received her B.B.A. in Management from Iowa State University.

Diana Gonzalez joined the Board of Regents staff in September 1998. She holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee (MBA), the University of North Texas (Ph.D. and M.Ed.), and Texas Woman's University (BA). After a number of years as a faculty member in the mathematics department of a community college in Texas, she served for more than 20 years as Vice President for Planning and Analysis at a technical college in Wisconsin. Most recently, Dr. Gonzalez served as Vice President for Instruction at a community college in Texas. She served as a consultant-evaluator on a number of accreditation visits for the North Central Association. She has been consulted by numerous colleges and agencies regarding the development of comprehensive models for strategic planning. She has also been consulted in the areas of student outcomes assessment, institutional effectiveness, and distance learning.  She is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and Phi Delta Kappa academic honorary societies.

Joe Murphy joined the Board of Regents staff in November 2006 having previously served on state legislative campaigns. He currently serves as the Student Relations Officer having graduated in May 2006 from the University of Northern Iowa with a B.A. in economics. While at UNI, Joe served as Student Body President his senior year and Student Body Vice President his junior year.

Joan Racki joined the Board of Regents staff in July 1993. She was previously Facilities Planner for the Idaho Board of Education and served as a Capital and Operating Budget Analyst for the Illinois Board of Higher Education. She has also taken numerous courses in business at the University of Idaho. She is active in the Society for College and University Planning and has served as a review panel member for the National Science Foundation. Ms. Racki has an A.B. from Scripps College and an M.A. in International Studies from the University of Denver.

Keith Saunders joined the Board Office staff in September 2004, having served eight years at the University of Northern Iowa in a state governmental relations position.  He is currently assigned to the University of Northern Iowa and serves as a primary public affairs and legislative contact for the Board of Regents, State of Iowa. Prior to working for the University of Northern Iowa, Keith earned a J.D. degree from the University of Iowa and a B.A. degree in political science from the University of Northern Iowa.

Chris Schnell joined the Board of Regents staff in May 1987.  She worked in the accounting department at Drake University and for a Commercial Finance Company before joining the Board Office.  Ms. Schnell received her degree from the American Institute of Business.

Dianne Smith joined the Board of Regents staff in December 1995. She came to the Board Office from the Legal Aid Society of Polk County where she was the Office Manager for six years. Prior to that, she was an employee of the federal government for many years. Ms. Smith holds a B.A. in Management Information Systems from Texas      A & M University - Commerce.

Todd Stewart joined the Board of Regents staff in August 2005 after serving as Associate Controller and Director of Accounting at the University of Iowa for seven years.  Prior to that, he worked as an administrator in the Department of Preventive Medicine at the University of Iowa and as Audit Manager with the State of Iowa Auditor’s Office for sixteen years.  Mr. Stewart earned his B.S. in accounting from Iowa State University and M.B.A. from the University of Iowa.  He is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Government Financial Manager and a Certified Internal Auditor.

Ilene Tuttle joined the Board of Regents staff in 1997. Prior to joining the Board Office staff, Ms. Tuttle served as Administrative Assistant to the Directors, Board and Community Relations and Facilities Management for the Des Moines Public Schools; the Internal Revenue Service as Administrative Assistant to the Chief, Resources Management (Personnel, Fiscal, Training and Facility Management branches); Chief, Taxpayer Service; as well as Accounting Technician in the Controller’s office, and Secretary to the President of Vegas Corporation -- nine McDonald’s restaurants and 13 Camelot Cleaners in the Des Moines area.
